Jeremy Black
Jeremy Black studied at Queens' College Cambridge, St John's College Oxford, and Merton College Oxford before joining the University of Durham as a lecturer in 1980. There he gained his PhD and ultimately his professorship in 1994. He joined Exeter University as Established Chair in History in 1996. He has held numerous external appointments including West Point Distinguished Visiting Lecturer 1997. He has also lectured extensively in USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, France, Germany, Italy, Denmark.
Dr. Black’s research focuses on early modern British and continental European history with particular interest in international relations, military history, the press and historical atlases. He has written 59 single-author books, one co-authored book, eight edited books, and seven co-edited books. Some of his titles include: War. An Illustrated History (2003), World War Two. A Military History (2003), and Rethinking Military History ((2004).
